On August 20, 2011, the Royal Air Force’s (RAF) aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows, lost one of its pilots, Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Jon Egging in a tragic crash as the team was coming into land at Bournemouth Airport. Less than three months later, on November 8, 2011, another team member, Flt Lt Sean Cunningham, died when he unexpectedly ejected from his stationary jet during training.
